The Hermitages
St. Clare House, St. Clare Hermitage (the ground floor of St. Clare House), and St. Francis cabins are available year-round and can be booked for individuals and groups looking to make a spiritual retreat (maximum 7 days). Booking in winter is at your own risk.
All of St. Clare House is available. It has kitchen amenities and a living room with a fireplace. It has three bedrooms, space for extra mattresses, and meditation spots around the grounds.
St. Clare Hermitage: Some retreatants prefer to be there when they are single. The ground floor of St. Clare House is a small Hermitage, simple and cozy. The Hermitage is private and has a private entrance. It includes a spacious bedroom, a bathroom with toilet/shower, a little living space that serves as a lounge, and a dining room with a little table, chairs, refrigerator, and microwave. One of the walls is all glass, so you see the deer. It has a private Chapel.
St. Francis House is a three-minute walk from St. Clare House. St. Francis cabin includes six bedrooms (+ two pull-out couches), kitchen amenities, a living room, a sunroom, a Chapel, and meditation spots around the grounds.
Jesus Our Hope is a holy place for rest, prayer, discernment, and reflection for individuals and small groups.
The septic tank is small and can absorb so much at a time. If you are a group coming for the day, please use the minimum amount of toilet paper needed; or even better, put all tissues in the bin. It will avoid clogging the pipes.
To avoid unfolding all the sheets and finding the right size when you redo the bed at your departure, we created a color code for the sheets. In each room there is a change of sheets in a closet or a shelf.

In both cabins, there is a Chapel with the Lord’s presence. It is possible to have the authorization to expose the Blessed Sacrament if you are or have been a Eucharistic Minister.

When you arrive for your retreat, try to arrive at your estimated arrival time. Please notify us if it changes or if you’re running late.
All retreatants (or group leaders) must sign the waiver, leave a donation, and clean the cabin upon their departure. We prefer you pay in cash or with a check for the donation.
Food
You are responsible for bringing all food and drink required for your stay.
St. Francis and St. Clare cabins have a fully equipped kitchen, microwave, and coffee machine.
Water comes from a well and is safe to drink but has a unique taste. Some people prefer bringing their own supply of bottled water.
The retreatants will depart with all trash and perishable food.
Respect for the Place
Bring walking shoes if you plan to go outside. And please change your shoes before entering.
If you break or spill something, please tell us. It makes it easier to fix things to know right away. Retreatants are responsible for damage beyond ordinary wear and tear.
Some towels or sheets are ruined by makeup. Please remove your makeup before going to bed and use a special washcloth to remove it. Not the nice towel sets we provide.
Smoking is not permitted in the facilities.
While exploring the grounds, stay on roads, trails, and paths. Our neighbors appreciate their privacy; please stay off their land (border just north of St. Francis Cabin). There is a trail marked with blue paint tape behind St. Clare House.
Both cabins have a landline. St. Francis: 303.697.1580 /St. Clare: 303.697.7539. Both contracts cover only local calls. At St. Clare House, it is possible to make long-distance calls, but they will be expensive, and we expect you will pay the fees. It has to be arranged with us in advance.
There is Internet access at St. Clare House. The Wi-Fi password is Beatitudes. Hopefully, you will not need it 😊.
Nature
You will need a four-wheel drive to get to the cabins in winter. Blue Jay Road goes up, and it is a hill not on the sunny side: it stays icy in some spots.
You are in bear and mountain lion country. Be vigilant, especially from dusk until dawn.
Fire and wildfires are a constant danger in Colorado. For this reason: smoking, candles (except in liturgy in the chapel only), and fires are prohibited.
We recommend warm, comfortable clothing, good walking shoes or boots, sunscreen, and caps. Weather changes quickly in Colorado, so be prepared.
Thank you for following these guidelines! God bless your stay!
