Jesus Our Hope is nestled in Jefferson County, southwest of metro Denver, 40 minutes from downtown Denver. At an elevation of 6,800 feet, these consecrated grounds are situated on 62 acres of rugged woodland dedicated to God.
The houses at Jesus our Hope are meant to provide a beautiful place for contemplative silence in the Lord’s Presence; you and God alone! Our houses and hermitage are named after St. Clare and St. Francis. They provide sanctuary not only for people of all faiths but also for a wonderful selection of birds and wildlife.
Most retreatants come to Jesus our Hope for time alone; others come in groups for prayer, reflection, and discernment.
Whether you walk the trail, sit quietly in the gazebo, in the Flight in Egypt Garden, in the Secret Garden or find a spot yet undiscovered, the solitude and beauty of nature is a constant reminder of the love God has for this earth, for each of us, and for you in particular.
The St. Francis Chapel and the St. Clare House living room can each serve as a meeting room for 20 people. Both are an ideal location for one-day retreats or getaways for church groups, parish staff, and small organizations that want to meet God in an uninterrupted setting.
St. Clare House
St. Clare House has three floors: A master room with a Queen bed on the upper floor and five additional loft beds. It has a large living room with a fireplace on the main floor that connects to a deck, a dining room, a full kitchen, an extra bedroom, and a pantry.
The basement has a master room with a Full bed, shower, and living room. The living room opens onto a beautiful field.
St. Clare House has a sacristy and a Chapel with the Blessed Sacrament in the basement. If you are a Eucharist Minister, instructions can be provided for receiving the key to the Tabernacle.
St. Clare Hermitage
St. Clare Hermitage is the basement of St. Clare House. It is totally private and has a private entrance. It includes a spacious bedroom, a bathroom with toilet/shower, a small living space that serves as a lounge, and a dining room with a little table, chairs, refrigerator, and microwave. One of the walls is all glass, which allows you to view the deer.
The advantage of booking the St. Clare Hermitage instead of the whole St. Clare House is its cozy small area, sleeping just next to the Lord! It is less intimidating than being alone in a big house.
We do not accommodate guests upstairs when someone is downstairs in the Hermitage.
St. Francis House
St. Francis House is three minutes from St Clare House, further down the dirt road. It is spacious, with a full kitchen, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a chapel with the Blessed Sacrament. If you are a Eucharist Minister, instructions can be provided for receiving the key to the Tabernacle.
St Francis can accommodate 13 people. It includes all the comforts of home without media distractions: there is no Internet. In the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi, this house is surrounded by tall pines and aspens that allow one’s spirit to reach out to the heavens and be comforted by Our Lord.
